In 1954, the father (Thomas Sappl senior) of the current owner and managing director (Thomas Sappl junior), bought the former guest house “Buchauer”, which you can see in the picture. Another reason for the hotel’s name is the Andreas Hofer monument on Kufstein’s Calvary, as the statue is exactly orientated in the direction of the hotel.
